Why use PNG instead of JPG?

PNG is lossless and renders sharp text and line art without compression artifacts. Great for screenshots, slides, and graphics. JPG is smaller but slightly blurrier.

Will the PNGs have transparent backgrounds?

No — PDF pages have a white background by default, which is baked into the PNG. The result is a fully opaque image.

How big will the files be?

PNG files are typically 3–5× larger than JPG. For a 10-page document, expect 5–30 MB depending on content.
